First show of 2012 - Saturday Jan 7th
Happy New Year! We play in Fred Zepplins, Cork on Saturday next, Jan 7th. This will be our first show in over a year (!) and will be Ronan's first gig with the band. We'll be playing a long set, with 4 new songs in there so check it out! It will be the final show from Days of Night too before they move on to other things. Doors are at 9pm, 5eur entry. Its a small room so come & make it a special gig...! 2 shows are confirmed for March as mentioned below and once again apologies for our having to cancel the HTGOW appearance in Dublin. New songs are coming together nicely with about 6 new tracks in total completed for the next album... Comment »

Dublin HTGOW show appearance cancelled
Unfortunately due to a schedule clash (with Alestorm & the 70k Tonnes of Metal cruise) we have to pull out of the Hail the Gods of Winter Dublin show in late January - apologies to anyone hoping to see us at this... The upside however is that we have headlining Dublin & Belfast shows confirmed for late March - details to follow! Comment »

Autumn 2011 - New guitarist, new music
It's been a while since we updated the site and there's been quite a few things happening beneath the surface...
Firstly we'd like to say farewell to our brother Drew who, for personal reasons, decided that he was going to head back home to the US earlier this year. We'd known this for a while but didn't want to confirm it until it had happened and we had found somebody that wanted to take over from him - Ronan Hayes (Belinus) has done just that and we are delighted to formally welcome him on board. He'll be playing his first show with us in Cork in early December - details to be announced very soon. Thanks to Drew for his many years with us - you're the best!
During late 2010 we completed writing 4 brand new songs. We played one of them ("Mere Mortals") live at Drew'd final show, but that's the only time any of the new songs have been presented publicly. In March 2011 we spent a weekend in Westland Studios in Dublin, recording a demo/promo of these 4 songs which will go out to labels pretty soon. Its a challenge for any band these days to get support to release and self-releases (like Last Light initially was before we licensed it to Casket) are becoming more common - but they are costly of course, so we'll see what happens.
The 4 songs recorded are "Mere Mortals", "Absentia", "Last Light" and "Liturgy"
- For Ruin are pleased to announce a worldwide licensing partnership for their second album LAST LIGHT which is being re-released through the UK's Casket/Copro Records on Feb 21st.
Last Light was self produced and self released in October 2009 by the band and the Casket re-release will also include a remixed and re-mastered version of “Towards an End” from the band’s Sentinel Records debut “December”(2007).
UK distribution will still be via all major retailers (HMV, Zavvi, Tesco, Asda, Amazon, Play , et al.), as well as all independent retailers with a PHD account. Digital distribution will continue through all major retailers (iTunes, Amazon MP3, eMusic, Tunetribe, 7Digital, Napster, Nokia, Rhapsody, HMV, Tesco, Cisco Device Store, Peoples Music Store, Play, We7), as well as also being available on Spotify and CDBaby.
World-wide physical distribution will include Australia (Modern Invasion), Benelux (Bertus), Denmark (Target), France (Soundworks/Season Of Mist), Germany (New Music), Italy (Audioglobe), Greece (Soundforge), Portugal (Recital), Norway (Tuba Rcds), Spain (Goi Music) and Sweden (Sound Pollution).
The re-release is available now on pre-order from the band's Merch Store
We play a hometown show with Mourning Beloveth on December 10th - please see the Tour page for details. We'll be playing a couple of surprises on the night and with luck the show should be filmed in HD for a 2011 release. Comment »

News update & announcement coming soon!
We've been quiet lately (for good reasons) and first of all we'd like to thank those who came out to see our Irish shows lately; there were some who travelled from far and wide and thats very much appreciated - especially these days when pennies are tight.
Behind the scenes we've been working on a few things - new songs, new ideas and working a few other things that should really help the band in the near future - watch this space, there will be an announcement in the coming weeks. Plans for our next release and some recording are taking shape so more on that when the time is right. Our digital distribution is one of the things that will change in the near future - the existing channels will remain but many others will also be added.
Shop news - the "Shade" demos are pretty much sold out now - only 1 or 2 hard copies remain at this stage and they will not be repressed. The only one of the demos that remains in some quantities is the Obsidian promo (the split demo sold out a long time ago).
